To make Story Time enjoyable and safe for everyone, we ask that you adhere to the following rules:

  1. Teach your child how to use his or her 'quiet voice' while on the main floor of the library. The library is open to the public during story time, therefore it is important to teach your child to respect this important library etiquette.
  2. Help your child display good manners. Children may not run around the rooms, climb on the chairs or tables, play with the Auditorium piano, or touch the blinds or curtains.
  3. Encourage your child to remain quiet during story-reading time.
  4. For the ages 2-5 Story Time: Please be sure to sign the pre-attendance sheet. This will help the volunteers determine how many supplies to bring. It is better to have extra rather than not enough. And by all means, if you would like to volunteer to read to the children, provide the craft, or provide the snack and drinks, then sign up for it. We are sure that you will find it as rewarding as we do.
  5. For your convenience, bathrooms are located behind the front desk on the main floor, as well as beside the kitchen in the downstairs Auditorium.  Due to our sensitive plumbing system, please flush only toilet paper.  Do not flush diapers, wipes, clothing, or feminine products.  Please do your part to help keep them clean.

A Note About Volunteer Led Story Hour, which begins September 11th:   Children ages 2-5 years old, along with their parent or childcare provider, are invited to join us for an hour that includes songs, a craft, snack, and of course stories! Our purpose is to foster a love of books and reading in our children while teaching them proper library etiquette.  Story Hour has run continuously for over 30 years. Our success is due to the cooperative efforts of volunteers like you. Each week parents are asked to sign-up to provide one of the following: the stories, the craft, the snack, or the drink and clean up activities. Please look for the sign-up sheet to find a day that suits you. If you can not volunteer, a contribution of craft materials or other supplies is always welcome! Glue, crayons, markers, and scissors will be provided to assist with craft projects. Please direct your children in the safe use of  these items.  Story Hour offers a different theme each week. We start the day with Circle Time in the Auditorium (downstairs, Church Street entrance). This is where the day's theme is presented through songs, pictures, and discussion. Announcements are also made at this time; therefore, everyone is expected to give their full attention to the leader during Circle Time, including parents. Circle Time is followed by craft time. After craft time the children are lead upstairs to the main floor to be read stories related to the theme. After the story, children return downstairs for a snack and drink. The day finishes up with everyone being invited to read additional books from the library shelves on their own, and to sign out books that they wish to take home.  For questions, please contact Storytime Volunteer Michele Johanson  (610-287-1380).  for more information, please click here

We look forward to seeing you at one of our several storytimes!
